Ozark is Breaking Bad if the whole family were in on it.

I’m finally caught up on Ozark! Who wants to discuss it? Yes, this is long, but writing it provided a much-needed respite from real life. (So, let’s watch a dark show about murder instead?) Anyway, I can’t stop thinking about it, so feel free to reply to tell me how wrong my ranking is.

Obviously, this contains spoilers. Out of the characters appearing in 9+ episodes, these are my favorite to least favorite. I haven’t yet read any reviews. Oh, and see if you can find the eight REO Speedwagon references. (Why eight? I don’t know. The Byrds sang “Eight…

To My Fellow Biden-Supporting Friends

“They realized that to be in power, you didn’t need guns or money or even numbers. You just needed the will to do what the other guy wouldn’t.”

The Usual Suspects

It was a thrill commiserating and then celebrating the 2020 election results with so many of you. The camaraderie we felt last week as we messaged into the night, only to wake up and do it all again, is something I’ll never forget. This past Saturday, when the press finally called the race for Joe Biden + Kamala Harris, I had mixed feelings: happiness, gladness, joy, cheer, mirth…

Biden 278

Given that the polls open in a few hours, we’re now in the vortex. I’m at the point where my spiritual side and my superstitious side merge. Crazy thoughts started to swirl even as I was watching the World Series. If the LA Dodgers win… Dodger Blue… then we’ll have a Blue Wave and Joe Biden will win. If the Tampa Bay Rays win… they used to be the Devil Rays… then Donald Trump will win.

OK, OK, snap out of it.

I’m normally pretty good at political predictions. I got Obama over McCain within 11 electoral votes. …

Post-Election Headlines (Written Pre-Election)

Here’s a list of headlines we may see once we know who’s headed to the White House in January 2021. I’m placing these in the order I think most likely to happen.

This isn’t meant to be the be-all, end-all of reasons. I sat down and wrote out which points I think will matter. Other folks may point out different rationales. That’s fine; they’re wrong.

A major heads-up: this is a mix of logic and emotion. Some are strategic; some are tactical. I am not attempting to write objectively. That said, I stand by all points, facts, data, etc. …

I had a blast interviewing Richa Moorjani, who plays Kamala on Mindy Kaling’s smash Netflix show, Never Have I Ever.

LA-Based Comedian Rajiv Satyal Helped Narrate the Netflix Series

A few weeks ago, I got a message from my friend, Madeline; she and I were in acting class together out here in LA. And she asked if I wanted to do Audio Description for an upcoming Netflix show. I go, “Oh, you mean like voiceover?” She goes, “No… they’re gonna have to go into the Settings on Netflix and check the box for English and then they’ll hear your voice.”

I go, “Oh, that’s funny, because I’m familiar with that. Because to watch my standup on Netflix, they have to… exit out of Netflix and go to YouTube.”…

Can’t Wait to See 2323

OK, this is a little dark, but you know how we aspire to find the best in the worst of times, humor against the sadness, inspiration amidst the malaise? Well, here you go.

HOW LUCKY IS MICHAEL JORDAN?!

Kobe Bryant dies tragically. A global pandemic strikes, killing 400K and counting. George Floyd is brutally murdered.

  • Because of Bryant’s passing, Jordan gives the speech of his life, laying his friend to rest and giving laughs to the entire Staples Center by mocking himself and the Crying Jordan meme.
  • Because of corona, ESPN rushes production, so we’re all at home to watch The Last Dance and relive…

Episode 1 and Episode 2 were a long time ago. And with the Black Lives Matter protests going on, this seemed like the perfect time to relaunch this series:

People ask me how I’m doing. My standard response? “I’m with the woman I love, in our home, in good weather — and it sucks.”

And hey, it’s Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer. So, take a moment to honor those who gave their lives so we can live ours.
